We started with "gubbröra" on rye bread and

Today we beat the sunday blues by going to buy wine.

Majestic is located 5 minutes from our flat and we have talked for ages about going there. It used to be a minimum 12 bottles purchase but nowadays its 6 bottles.

Summer came early as in thursday:

Hung out with Erik in Hoxton Sq on thursday and then back to his place to drink michelada. Very summery!

Saturday morning met up Lova and did some catching up. We tried out Leila's Shop in Arnold's Circus for breakfast. I loved it because it was super cozy. I had fried eggs with jamon serano on sourdough bread.

Walked with Lova all the way to Angel so hurried back to meet up with boyf, Justin, Andreas and Tomoko in London Fields.

At four o'clock we went down to Rough Trade to see Ash play!!! Last time I saw them was 14 years ago.

Then we got hungry again...

Next back to Broadway Market for some drinking on the street. Until finding an empty booth in Dove to settle down with belgian beers.

So I've been a crappy blogger this year. No denying it! I forgot to blog in february when Ninni and Sebastian came to visit. We of course showed them our great neighborhood.

Got to love hackney city farm! Where you can learn that pigs are not filthy animals at all

Since it was freezing we went to one of my favorite cafes that I can never learn the name of. Wherkunder something...

So yesterday: good friday was spent at Simon's lovely place on Brick lane.

Being the good catholics that we are we of course opted for fish for our late lunch. Smoked mackerel with thai marinated vegetables on vermicelli noodles.

Ok last time I wrote on my blog was more than a month ago. It was on Valentines day so it would only be fitting to pick up from there.

Me and Marcus started the day with a romantic breakfast. Since it was on a Sunday, its the day we allow ourselves to eat anything we want, we made french toast with blueberries, bananas and bacon. With lots of golden syrup of course!

And for dinner we went on a double date with Milli and Jakob at our usual vietnamese. I had the beef salad of course, Can't really eat anything else.

Went over to my new neighbor Simon Allen's place on Brick lane for coffee. Have to say I'm pretty jealous of their massive living room and kitchen. But I'm so happy to have him close by.

First blog of the year is about the last week of last year?

Me and J did what we always do. That is drinking, here at the new Vurma bar on Birger Jarlsgatan

followed by a midnight snack before going to bed.

Then it was christmas eve and in the Davila-Alvarez household it means turkey time!

which is always eaten with my mothers delicious russian salad. Made with beetroot to make it more christmassy.

On boxing week I was a lady who lunched.

Avocado and prawn salad was my favorite.

Me and the boyf stayed at my sister a lot and made brunch

almost every day. Magnus' american pancakes and

Marcus omelet were the highlights.

was the best way to end 2009. I'm looking forward to eat my heart out in 2010.

Last night we went to Tomoko's & Andreas place for her birthday. Boyf and I were later gonna take the 6am flight to Sweden so we decide to get drunk before hand.

I've been awful at updating lately mainly because I've been laking the energy to do anything but I'm trying to sort my shit out for next year. David rented the car again last weekend and we drove to Ikea.

I always have meatballs and a "dammsugare" when I go to Ikea and spend most of the time at the Swedish food shop.

Later that night we took Oscar to do a little late night shopping at Tesco.

We did feel like wieners going grocery shopping a Saturday night but

it was the last night with the car so had to take advantage of that.

Also this week I realized I've become addicted to computer games. I've been killing nazis all day long with Marcus. Geeks!

Last Sunday I went over to Lova's place to have an InDesign tutorial. My payment for an afternoon of teaching her was a lovely dinner. I'd say that's pretty fair.

I always call Lova Nigella #2. She is a great cook and food lover.

The recipe was Tom ka gai.

The finished result was lovely. And all the wine we had I was pretty hung-over at work the next day.

On Monday David had rented a car so after work we took it for a spin.

He had rented it for an hour so we were stuck in traffic for most of it...

Afterwards a pint or two at The George Tavern and watched their east end cabaret show.

For once we got up early on a Saturday. I haven't been to the market in at least a month even though its my favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning. The sun was shining and at wasn't the least bit cold.

Boyf bought us breakfast and we sat on the pavement. Couldn't believe the nice weather.

Yummy!!! Best sandwich I've had in a while.

Then I went back to mine and walked by Victoria Park. I love autumn!

Saturday we celebrated David and Megan's birthday. We started with dinner at Pizza East.

Definitely a new favorite place. I didn't really like the old T bar and the food was excellent. My prawn pizza was delicious and even David's potato? pizza was good.

We continued to Off Broadway. Were the creepy greek lady scared my boyf half to death. Its a shame I really used to like this place. Don't really feel like going back.

On Sunday I met up with my dear friend Lova. We don't see each other that often so we had a coffee at a very cosy place (can't remember the name at the moment) on Columbia Road.

Afterwards we hit the flower market. Always very crowded as you can see.

My Sundays never feel complete if not going for a stroll here. I wish I could buy all the flowers and fill my house with them.

Then back to Marcus place to cook a late Sunday lunch. We made Pad Thai. Lova and I also made a pact. We are going to have our own cooking class every week. We choose a recipe and then invite a guest to taste it. Its going to be so much fun!

I have the luxury to live really close to the 24 hour bagel shops in brick lane. They are slightly addicted and I never get tired of them (especially the salmon & cream cheese. Yum!).

And since we have had poor health the last couple of weeks we were on a soup diet for a while. Not a big fan of soup but with a bagel on the side it wasn't any problems.

It was the London Design Festival last week. Simon gave me tickets to go to Tent London design exhibition at the Truman Brewery.

It was ok. Nothing to get to excited about.

It was a really beautiful day so we sat in the sun and had lunch in brick lane.

Later on we had a portuguese experience with Katia and Erik. Open bar with Portuguese wine and port made me very drunk. And hungry

So we decided to go to our favorite chinese Gourmet San. Unfortunately I could not get any nice pictures just greasy messy ones.

I'm not blogging much since I'm living at two places at the moment. Can't seem to find the rhythm (and sometimes internet). The picture above is the only photograph I took at the boyf's housewarming party on Saturday.

Sunday was spent at the greasy spoon with the paper. This must be one of the things I enjoy doing the most on Sundays.

And later on dinner at greasy chinese. A lot of grease in one day.

Tomorrow my boyfriend is moving to London. There are no words for what I'm feeling at the moment. This fall we met two years ago and it took a long while to get where we are now. Putting up with my crazy behavior and when my depression takes me down so low that I don't know what to do with myself he is there. So in 24 hours I will be the happiest girl ever! Picture was taken before going to london fields yesterday. Drinking sparkling rosé there until we got cold and hungry. Coming back here to eat carbonara with spoons and knife (still haven't sorted out the kitchen utilities). After a couple of drinks I caught myself rolling cigarettes. Last weekend my friend Johanna came to visit. So on Saturday we went to Broadway market to buy food and have a picnic in London fields.

Then it became a bit chilly so went over to The Dove for an afternoon drink. Caisa was happy because she had just signed the contract for her new place (which my boyf will move into in a week!)

So we decided to go over there. Yes that's me in his room. You can't imagine how excited I am at the moment.

Of course we never miss an opportunity to drink some bubbly!

So in mid August we decided to throw a little crayfish party, since its a Swedish tradition to do so. The weather was lovely so we sat by the lock.

The decorations and about 4 kilos of crayfish was bought at IKEA.

Judy's family came to visit so we had a big Thai dinner. It was so delicious I almost died (also because of the chillies!) Judy's mum made like 7 courses including two deserts. And a lot of alcohol because we were celebrating Judy's birthday as well. I love our big dinners at the house, we don't have them often but when we do we make enough food to feed a small army.

Me and the boyf made an excursion to west London to see the Mick Jones rock'n' roll library. Kind of cool and a lot of stuff he's been collecting over the years.

When we were staying at my parents place in Stockholm we saw a documentary about Gilbert & George and when we returned to London there was an exhibition on White Cube.

Best afternoon activity is reading magazines at the pub with chips & mayo with a pint of Guinness.

Saturday morning was boyf last day. We were super hungover and had hardly slept at all. So a nice breakfast at the pavilion at Victoria Park.

My little frog has been on the road for than 30 hours and he's still not home. He's all I'm thinking about at the moment. The poor thing had to take the bus from London - Sweden since we couldn't find him a plane ticket. Although I've been getting funny updates along the journey. I'm not sure I could sand to make such a lonely journey myself. I'm to comfortable lying in bed and watching the final episodes of Pushing Daisies. I feel like an old romantic schmuck!

We arrived at 6 am to Ljubljana. But I liked it straight away its small and cozy. And absolutely stunning!

We took a little train up a mountain were the castle is. And this is how Ljubljana looks from above.

The girls had a little nap on the way to Lake bled. Its in north Slovenia by the Julian Alps.

The place was breathtaking and these photos don't do it justice. The weather was good so we had a little swim in the lake. I would have like to stay a little longer but we had to go back to Ljubljana and spend the evening there before catching our next train. But this place is my favourite memory of our journey.

When we arrived in Vienna everything pretty much looked like this. Its a quiet city and although its not my cup of teat the day we spent there was pretty good. And freaking hot. We spent most of the day on a artificial beach sponsored by the city of Jerusalem.

They have a great museum quarter and they make wicked ice coffees. No correction they make wicked coffee wherever you go!

The first stop on our interrail pass was Amsterdam. I have to say I was blown away of how pretty the city is. I liked it so much and it was nothing like I thought it would be (but also how I thought it would be. With the disgusting tourist and redlight district.) It was a very hot and sunny day when we arrived. The best thing we did was to rent a pedal boat and explore Amsterdam through its canals. The best possible start to our trip!

Cake. Me and the boyf got up super early to make it. It was a hit even the builders who are renovating the bathroom had some. I've been back in London for a couple of days but with the flat a complete mess with the renovation and boyf visiting I've been a bad blogger. But now I'm back on track!

I was woken up Sunday morning (well maybe afternoon) with loud reggae music. Fell back to sleep and woke up again this time it was salsa music. I immediately ruled out the neighbours. They listen purely to radio hits and britpop. Then I realised it came from Victoria park. I went on a mission to find the music and here is the result:

My sister is in New York right now with her boyfriend. I've never been but I desperatly want to go. I imagine it being just like a Woody Allen move. Manhattan is not my favourite one but its defiantly got the best opening scene. You just fall in love with New York when you watch it.

The second midsummer celebration. I was terribly hungover and the weather didn't allow us to hang out in the park. There was again lots of food and drink, although I was mostly eating this time. Most of my pictures turned out blurry and I retired to bed before any of our guests left. Boring!

The food preparations started early. We made smörgåstårta, or rather Lova did. I've made so many the last two years so I took a step back.

Which was good because she did decorate it beautiful. Look at the tomato rose!

Simon had the honour to carry it to the lock were we ate our food.

We had pickled hearing with potato salad and of course the delicious smörgåstårta.

There was even some boats locking on the canal.

Afterwards we went to London Fields. Today is midsummer party nr 2. I shall return to it now I think.

I bought these for my last money. Not totally convinced plus I'm dying to try them out but there was no sunshine today. Tomorrow is midsummer and I'm going to have a 2 day celebration. I hope my liver can take it. Now back to do my laundry and cleaning up my messy room.

Stockholm syndrome

My last night started with cava and a cheese platter at Sardin. Although the taleggio was way to runny the pecorino was perfect.

Continued over to Morfar Ginko. Where Rebecka and Malin enjoyed a glass of rosé and

I was drinking a not son well done Manhattan.

The day after, before my flight back to London the boyf and I enjoyed the sun

with Max hamburgers (Swedish fastfood!). Its become a bit of a tradition.

Then Gabbe treated us to coffee and pannacotta before I had to literally run to the airport.

Raw like sushi

This trip was all about the sushi. I had dinner at råkultur twice. I have mixed feelings about the place but you can't fault the sushi. It was excellent. Although I did feel like a big elephant in a china shop when I dropped my squid in the boyf teacup. The service was pleasant but not at all relaxed. One of our waiters was shaking while pouring up the miso soup. You should go on a Thursday because its the only day they serve oysters.

My favourite sushi place is still Akki. There is not much space but for the quality and the price I don't think you can find a better place in Stockholm. Plus my sister eats there all the time and she is always good company.

The best breakfast I had was at multi kulti. Its actually a record store with a small cafe. But for £3 you get pancakes with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and some delicious cloud-berry jam. The best way to start your day. Then over to lunch. My mother and father took me out for lunch separately and below you can see the difference.

My dad likes Asian food. So we went to Koreana and had bibimbap. Im desperately wanting to find a good Korean restaurant in London. Will have to do some research.

With my mother its always a hassle to find a place she can eat. She's lactose ,can't eat fried or spicy food etc. Now she's into the GI diet. I had a GI lasagne, but it was without the pasta and cheese. Which for me doesn't really make it a lasagne but it wasn't to bad. I enjoyed it but I don't think I could eat like this every day.

Welcome to Svedmyra! So this is where I have been spending my time in Sweden. And if you know me this means that I love my boyfriend a lot. No I wasn't bad at all but I'm more of a city girl since I've lived most of my life in different suburbs. Plus there is always the mixed feelings going back home.

So what did I do during my stay? We drank rosé spritzers courtesy of Burger King.

Johanna and Siri taught us the rules of playing boule. I haven't played it in ages and it was great fun. Especially since you can drink while playing. Got to buy a set and do some practise I think you can play it in London Fields, if I'm not mistaken.

And then there was food. My dad is the best cook I know. And I was over at my parents house twice for Sunday lunch. The first time around we had an excellent lamb roast with risotto and an artichoke and lettuce salad. While washing it down with a Ventisquero Queulat (Carménère 2006) just made it amazing. Second lunch was salmon and seafood rice accompanied with papa a la huacahina. I miss my daddies food!

the reason for not updating the blog lately is that I've been in Sweden for 10 days. I forgot to bring my chords for the computer and camera. Plus when I'm in Sweden I tend to give the boyf all of my attention. I have tons of pictures that I'm trying to upload to flickr but its taken ages. But I can promise that the next couple of posts are going to be about food. I ate so much that I don't ever want to step on a scale.

Hot in herre

London is so fuckin hot these days! So the only thing you can do is to chill on the balcony drinking Pimm's.

Or hang out in London Fields with about a hundred people getting drunk.

You can also go to Buen Ayre, they make great Argentinean steak with chimichuri.

And then go back to London Fields and try and work on your tan like Señor Tomate and Sebastian the crab.

Holy Thursday

It was such nice weather yesterday so we had some ice cream and coffee in Victoria Park. Then a little walk by the canal plus drinking rose on the balcony. Perfect Thursday afternoon!

For dinner we went to Little Georgia. I absolutely love it there the food and atmosphere is great. They make the best pelmeni with smetana. Yummy!

Then some free drinks at some art thing in Broadway Market.

Then David insisted on Jägerbombs. Took some more pictures but as you can imagiene they didn't turn out so good. Continued to Off Broadway, although the cocktails were terrible. Ended the night at the London Fields

I'm remembering my teenage years by watching Buffy the vampire slayer. I feel like crying because this must be the best television show of all times. Read somewhere that they are making a movie remake but without Joss Whedon involved. Which bassically will make it shit. Damn it! How this man can now so much about teenage girls I will never understand.

Went to the funfair in Victoria Park yesterday. I felt like an overweight kid. Bank holiday pt.2

On Sunday I felt a little broken from the night before. But I still managed to get myself together a have a drink on the lock outside my window before going to Butt Magazines party at Bistrotheque.

The party was your gay fashion people poser party. The boys try their best look! I still had shitloads of fun especially since the booze was free.

Now this is how you pose! Paul had it going on with his leather shorts. I loved them! Continued the party at Catch and then stumbled home for a well deserved sleep. This weekend made me realise how I have missed going out. So more parties from now on!

Bank holiday pt.1

It was bank holiday weekend and it was fun fun fun! Started Saturday with my favourite pastime: Rose in London Fields. The weather was nice enough. Haven't been this nice for a long time.

Then a made a trip to west London. Had dinner at Simon's garden with his very nice Irish friends. For once I was the only Swede. We drank plenty of wine and went to some club, that I forgot the name of.

I can't say I fought the place was anything special but with good company we went back to Simon's for more drink and food. And this is how the night ended.

We had a proper girls night out (well almost) at Stag & dagger. It was nice weather and spirits were high.

We mainly hung out at first Vibe bar but due to over crowding we went to Catch and a lot of running around in Shoreditch.

I finished the night at Cordy house. Where everyone went a little crazy with the lipstick.

On the bus ride home we entertained ourselves with some games.

I've tried not to see this blog as a chore but lately it certainly has been. Not much has happen lately except that my beautiful boyfriend visited me from Sweden, I'm mentally feeling much better than I've done in ages and today Judy chopped of a little bit of my hair. I'm trying to figure out what to do for the next couple of months and working on some projects that are long over due. Below you can see my new flashy tights. I haven't dared to wear them outside though.

I've had a little break from blogging but now I'm back! Saturday I had a skagen toast and rose for lunch. In the evening I went to Andreas and Tomoko's place for nice food and lots of cheese and wine. We watched the eurovison song contest and I was happy that my boyfriends look alike, Alexander Rybak, won!

Saturday afternoon me and David were super hungover. So burger and fries in Victoria Park it had to be.

The evening I spent with Rebecka and Miranda. We had dinner at Cay Tre, a Vietnamese on Old street. It was so delicious. Don't think I've had Vietnamese before and really recommend it.

Afterwards drinks at George & Dragon. And this delicious lychee martini at Prague.

Friday afternoon I had a hellish hangover from the night before. I had a lovely time with the boys, but does Irish sure can drink! So I sat on the balcony with a filet-o-fish and rose spritzer. It helped and I felt ready for the nights adventures.

The night started with dinner at Little Georgia. I have to say I was surprised how nice the food was. I had read mixed reviews of the place but the food was delicious and the atmosphere really cosy. And I finally had Pilmieni with smetana!

Then a quick drink at Off Broadway meeting up with Karl and Caisa. I had my usual cocktail, a Manhattan. Its a shame that its always so crowded in there but it was still nice hanging outside.

Last stop was Caroline's 30th birthday party. The photos below gives you kind of an idea of a great evening.

Mexican rooftop afternoon

Rebecka is visiting from Sweden this weekend. So yesterday we went to the Cindy Sherman exhibition. Well it was more like just three photographs and I left the gallery feeling is this it?

For lunch I had a chiken katsu curry. And imediatly after finishing my fatty meal I was cursed with a big pimple on my nose.

Met up with Lova at my favourite place that is Maison Bertaux. They have delicous tarts and you can sit outside and pretend that you are in Paris.

For din dins we met up with these handsome boys. And drank a lot of wine

For the rest of the night we retreated to Ian's rooftop terrace on brick lane. To of course drink some more wine. or in Rebeckas case some witches brew.

p.s.. I drank a Mexican beer yesterday!!!
